Introduction: This presentation will cover several areas of interest surrounding managing water in the landscape. Topics such as site-assessments, irrigation systems and operations, plant selection, and creative solutions to address runoff water will be addressed. Throughout this presentation, attendees will take a nuanced look at ways to reduce water use, apply agrochemicals more effectively, and limit runoff water volumes and contaminant movement.
Our presenter Dr. Damon Abdi is an Assistant Professor of Landscape Horticulture at the Louisiana State University AgCenter Hammond Research Station. His program seeks to support the sustainability of the green industry through developing research-based solutions to address issues such as irrigation/runoff management, plant establishment, and temperature moderation in the landscape. His extension program focuses on providing usable information to gardeners at every level –professional horticulturists, seasoned garden enthusiasts, and novice gardeners – by creating a wide range of materials, resources, and (sometimes fun) publications to spread the joy of horticulture.
