Charge Your Yard Program

Industry Opportunities,

Power Up Your Business: Claim $3,000 for Electric Yard Equipment in 2025!

Is your yard care business interested in transitioning to electric yard equipment? Great news - the 2025 Charge Your Yard program is now open! Yard care businesses can get $3,000 to exchange gas-powered equipment for electric. Priority will be given to first-time participants.

Last year’s participants reported several benefits with the new electric equipment, including quieter and more comfortable use (less vibration), easier operation and maintenance, and fuel savings.

● 70% of 2023-2024 participants report using electric equipment frequently during their busiest season

● 79% report that their experience with the program has changed their opinion on electric lawn equipment

● 96% report that they want to participate in the program in the future.

Participants also like the benefits to air quality - did you know that using a gas-powered leaf blower for one hour is the same as driving the average vehicle 727 miles?

Does your business qualify?

● Businesses must primarily operate in Davis, Salt Lake, Tooele, and Weber counties.

● Businesses need to recycle a minimum of six eligible and functional pieces of gas-powered yard equipment (string trimmers, leaf blowers, hedgers, edgers, and chainsaws). Lawnmowers are NOT eligible for the program.

Congratulations on qualifying! What’s next?

Qualified businesses will order a bundle of new electric equipment from an eligible retailer. The incentive amount of $3,000 will be discounted from the bundle price total. The remaining costs will be the responsibility of the business.

To recycle your old equipment and pick up your new equipment, we will be hosting in-person events at participating retailers.

The application will close on February 28th, or when all spots are filled. Questions? Learn more on the website and reach out to ChargeYourYard@utah.gov or directly contact Anna Morrill with the Utah Division of Air Quality (asmorrill@utah.gov, 385-499-6704).
