Mountain View High School Agriculture Program & FFA Chapter: Cultivating Tomorrow's Agricultural Leaders
At Mountain View High School, we pride ourselves on offering a comprehensive and hands-on Agriculture Program in tandem with our active Future Farmers of America (FFA) chapter. Nestled in a community that values agricultural heritage and innovation, our program is designed to equip students with a diverse set of skills necessary for a sustainable and successful future in the industry.
Areas of Focus:
Greenhouse Management: Under the careful guidance of expert educators, students gain practical experience in greenhouse operations. They learn about climate control, soil management, and sustainable agricultural practices, providing them with the skills to successfully manage a commercial or educational greenhouse.
Floral Design: This area gives students the chance to tap into their creativity. Courses cover everything from basic arrangements to intricate designs, offering ample opportunities to master the art and science of floriculture.
Agriculture Biology & Aquaculture: A rigorous curriculum introduces students to the biological aspects of agriculture, including plant genetics, disease control, and animal husbandry. Additionally, students have the option to delve into aquaculture, exploring the breeding and harvesting of aquatic organisms.
Welding: Students are taught safe and efficient welding techniques that are applicable in various agricultural settings, from equipment repair to construction.
Employment Skills: Soft skills such as communication, leadership, and problem-solving are integrated throughout the program, ensuring that students are well-prepared for the workplace.
