Grasshoppers are always a nuisance but in the last several years, they have invaded backyard gardens and small farms in very large numbers. Learn about which species of grasshoppers are typically found in these settings, and when they start appearing—which is different for each species. This presentation will cover grasshopper identification, life cycles, outbreak trends, and conventional and organic management tactics.

Our presenter Mair Murray has been an IPM Specialist at USU Extension since 2007. She conducts outreach and research in integrated pest management with a focus on helping professionals and gardeners growing specialty crops and ornamentals to prosper. She received her master’s degree in plant pathology from Oregon State University and is originally from North Carolina.
